The Modern Warfare 2 launch trailer is here ahead of this month’s release
Infinity Ward’s shooter will be released on October 28
Activision has published the launch trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, which is viewable below.
The Modern Warfare 2 release date is October 28, but players who pre-order the digital version of the game will be granted early access to its campaign starting on October 20.
Activision recently confirmed a Warzone 2 release date of November 16, which will also mark the start of Modern Warfare 2’s first season of live content.
Both titles will be available for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC via Battle.net and Steam.
Activision has said Modern Warfare 2’s campaign features a globe-trotting operation spanning missions in Europe, Asia and the Americas.
It will include “offshore sieges with underwater combat, all-out explosive assaults from 30,000 feet above enemy strongholds, and high-stakes, low-profile stealth missions in both plain sight and under the cover of darkness”.
The first Modern Warfare 2 gameplay video was released in June, showing off a near-eight-minute playthrough of a level called Dark Water, which sees Task Force 141 infiltrating an oil rig.
According to Activision: “Modern Warfare II features a physically based material system allowing for state-of-the-art photogrammetry, a new hybrid tile-based streaming system, a new PBR decal rendering system, world volumetric lighting, 4K HDR, as well as a new GPU geometry pipeline. All of this is in service of a massive cinematic Campaign.
